Now you have your awning or pergola installed in your garden, you’ll want to make the most of it. Predominantly, people use their awnings during the warmer parts of the daytime, but why stop there?
These days you don’t have to retreat indoors when the sun goes down. There is a wealth of awning lighting solutions available and at some very competitive prices too. LED strips seem to be the favourite with the owners of awnings because they are easily attached to the frame of the awning when it is opened. However, the choices of lighting for the awning or pergola are virtually limitless. There are hanging lights, strip lights, flexible rope lights and even lights that have the ability to change brightness and colour. All in all, the flexibility this offers you can make outdoor entertaining a reality even after dark.
As the summer draws to a close, your awning space can be abandoned until the lighter days the following year unless you have outdoor awning lighting fitted. By the time you’ve got home from work, spent some time finding out about how the kids got on at school, had a bite to eat and walked the dogs, the natural light will be on its way out. By the time we get into the winter proper, it’ll be dark before you’ve even left the office, so having a good lighting system under your awning or pergola will mean that you can continue to use this outdoor space all year round.
Of course, if you really want to make use of your awning and pergola even during those cold, dark winter months, you’ll need more than just lights, you’ll need a heater too.
If you are warm enough and have sufficient lighting, a pergola or awning can easily be used all year round, no matter what the temperature is outside. The only real restriction on their use could be when there is very heavy rain or strong, gusting winds, as these have the potential to seriously damage your awning mechanism.
A fantastic integrated sound system is the last must have for year-round enjoyment of your awning or pergola. These sound systems fit neatly inside your awning or pergola; so, you will not have to worry about damaging your indoor sound system.
With the versatility of Bluetooth, you can go totally wire free, so no more tripping hazards and the music system can either be operated via the dedicated infra-red remote control that comes with the integrated sound system, or from an app on your smartphone, what could be better?
So, with the winning combination of light, heat and music, you will be all set for a fantastic place to sit, relax and enjoy the great outdoors.
The striking exterior of Knebworth House, adorned with its turrets, domes and gargoyles is the perfect setting for film and television location shoots. When Knebworth House is silhouetted against the sky, you really couldn’t wish for a better setting for filming. The interior of Knebworth House represents beautiful examples from different eras, fantastic gardens and lush green parkland, woodland areas with striking trees, lakes, cottages and farms. Knebworth has proved to be the go to location for many a film director.
This Gothic Tudor Knebworth House was the location for the Yule Ball staircase scene in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and The King’s Speech.
Wayne Manor in the Batman franchise has also included exterior and interior shots of Knebworth House. Many a movie buff has stood looking confused when visiting this gorgeous Hertfordshire stately home, wondering why the house looks so familiar.
In the film the Kings Speech, Knebworth House doubled as Balmoral Castle.
The popular film Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London was also filmed at Knebworth House. Here the stately home was meant to represent the Kenworth Estate.
The Lair of the White Worm was also filmed on location at Knebworth House. Here the main house was to represent D’Ampton Hall.
The Queen is a very well received production starring Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth. The film was completed in 2006 and it depicts the death of Diana, Princess of Wales in 1997. Initially in the dramatisation, the Royal Family regard Diana’s death as a private affair and thus not to be treated as an official royal death. This is in contrast with the views of Prime Minister Tony Blair and Diana’s ex-husband, Prince Charles, who favour the general public’s desire for an official expression of grief. Matters were further complicated by the media, royal protocol regarding Diana’s official status, and wider issues about republicanism.
Quite a lot of the Queen was filmed on location at Knebworth House, although other stately homes were also used, including Brocket Hall in nearby Welwyn Garden City.
Skateopia was located in the lovely grounds of Knebworth Park. It was considered to be one of the best skate parks of its time in the world and had it not been closed down, it probably still would be today.
There has been many a campaign since the area was constructed on to bring it back. However, it should be acknowledged that the skateboard craze had died out at the time the Knebworth Park skate park closed, only to be revived years later by the likes of Tony Hawkes and many video games that depict skateboarding.
